International Technology & Business Incubator –
(IBTI), Russia, Moscow

IBTI is a Russian non-profit organization founded by:
the Academy of National Economy under the RF Government
the Russian Fund for Assistance to Small Innovative Enterprises (FASIE)
American "Fenix Technology International, Inc." company

IBTI was established in 1994 as a joint Russian-American program financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).  It is a virtual Incubator, with no walls, where every company (inventor, R&D lab) can find effective supporting assistance wherever they are really running business – near or far from Moscow.

The first General manager of IBTI (1994-1998) was the current Vice-President of AMT, Nina Fonstein.

The main focus of that original project was supposed to help solving All-Russia problems of commercialization of breakthrough technologies and R&D results.

The main functions of IBTI:

Promotion of scientific projects to Russian and world technology markets:

  • Assessment of projects for commercial potential
  • Marketing of new product/technology
  • Searching for strategic partners and investors as well as suppliers and consumers for technologies/products
  • Legal, informational and organizational support of technology transfer when licensing, including that to foreign partners

Consulting of innovative small businesses:

  • Development of business strategy and preparation of business-plans
  • Legal protection of intellectual property

Training for managers of innovation projects and small innovative enterprises.
In May 2000 the IBTI received a status of Moscow Regional Training Center within the ISTC (International Science and Technology Center) Regional Training Center Program.

IBTI helps foreign partners to find necessary technology solutions, to evaluate the patenting potential of a project, to find Russian partners, and to manage R&D projects.
IBTI cooperates with American and European partners: Fenix Technology Inc., IC2 Institute of Texas University at Austin (USA), Scientific Park of Warwick University, Oxford Innovation (Great Britain), Licentec (Netherlands), Rambol, Danish Technology Institute (Denmark).
